The compendium of women's skills in Côte d'Ivoire has been cited as a good practice for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Africa by the UNDP Regional Service for Africa (RSCA) at a first South-South cooperation meeting in Addis Ababa.
South-South cooperation meeting to boost momentum for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on the African continent was held on November 15 and 16, 2017 in Addis Ababa, an official note released on Tuesday .

For this first South-South cooperation meeting, four donor countries including Côte d'Ivoire were invited to share their positive experiences. South Africa presented its experience related to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.

Rwanda presented on the "Rwanda Green Fund for a Green Economy". Second, Uganda with its Strategic Framework for Empowering Refugee Populations and Host Populations (ReHoPE).

The Ivory Coast Women's Compendium Program was presented by Euphrasia Kouassi Yao, special adviser to the Ivorian Head of State, in charge of gender. The Ivorian experience described as "unique (...) contributes directly to the achievement of nine of the 17 SDGs".

The majority of the countries participating in this meeting, including the donor countries, have shown an interest in this enhancement of women's skills in Côte d'Ivoire. Senegal, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Uganda and Guinea-Bissau have expressed their willingness to implement this Ivorian practice.

"These solution seekers have committed themselves to set up their Compendium of the feminine competences with the assistance and the accompaniment of the Ivory Coast within the framework of a partnership whose terms will be finalized in the days to come", underlines the text.

One of the sustainability factors of this program lies in its institutional framework organized around a national, university and fairly stable management structure, namely the UNESCO Chair in Water, Women and Decision-Making and a committee. supervision.

This supervisory committee comprises the Presidency of the Republic and a dozen sectoral ministries concerned with gender and women's empowerment issues. This shows a strong involvement of the Ivorian authorities at the highest level.

The Compendium of Women's Competences Program of Côte d'Ivoire (COCOFCI) was set up to develop a directory to make Ivorian women's skills visible in order to enhance their participation in public life.

Its objectives include enhancing women's visibility, participation and leadership in the management of public and private affairs at all levels, providing timely and useful information for decision-making regarding recruitment, Appointment or representation of Women's Skills and identify areas where women are underrepresented to encourage corrective action towards equity and social justice.
