Ms. Euphrasie Yao, Special Advisor to the Head of State of Ivory Coast, in charge of Gender, who exposed the project in the premises of the UNESCO Chair "Water, Women and Decision-Making Power", said that "BASE" means "Bank of love and effective solidarity".
"The hour of solidarity has struck", hence the creation of this platform initiated by women leaders and their partners to support vulnerable populations, while providing them with a united solution to the serious health crisis of Covid-19 .
It is a question, she will say, of creating a solidarity community of strong women and men for social justice, a club of investment in human capital and developing a citizen and solidarity movement.
The BASE's objectives are to provide for the vital needs of vulnerable populations affected by the restrictions imposed by the fight against Covid-19 and to assist the authorities in all situations where the leadership of women, men and young people can bring the difference.
The initiative also aims to "raise solidarity funds and transfer money to vulnerable people identified using predefined criteria".
Membership is 1,000 FCFA, while the financial contribution is made according to "social position".
The funds raised should enable the production and provision of protective masks for vulnerable populations, as well as the establishment of a reliable information and training platform accessible to the public.
This information platform should also make it possible to provide information on the availability of financial resources put in place by the State of Côte d'Ivoire. And this, in order to help people to have the right information on the evolution of this pandemic.
To support the efforts of the State of Côte d'Ivoire, Head of State Alassane Ouattara, called on all populations to show solidarity to overcome this pandemic which affects the economy of the country but also the social strata
Women of high level, young women graduates, women of all levels who excel in their sectors of activity.
