The auditors forming the 5th promotion of gender engineering experts received their end-of-training graduation during a solemn ceremony. The purpose of this ceremony was to award diplomas to all participants in this program. The training provided was 5 in number: Gender and Climate Change, Gender and Peace, Gender and Gender-Based Violence, Gender-Responsive Budgeting and Gender Audit. It was Saturday, December 10 at the French Institute on the plateau, in Abidjan.
Established by Euphrasie Kouassi Yao, special adviser to the President of the Republic in charge of gender, at the head of the UNESCO chair "Water, Women and decision-making power", this program lasted 9 months during which 58 participants were trained in different fields. including online and face-to-face courses. "Bold and Audacious" are the names they gave themselves for having dared to embark on the adventure. The training aims to “train high-level experts capable of having impactful interventions, which make a company more efficient and more profitable”. With a total of 243 experts - new graduates included - each expert impacts his environment according to the training followed. "When the man is trained, he has as we say the kind of glasses, he apprehends elements of society that others who are not trained do not see" argued the president of the Compendium, Euphrasie Kouassi Yao.
The challenge of this training "is for the human being to transform" indicated Euphrasie Kouassi Yao while looking at the needs of men and women to find a solution. This graduation saw the participation of the Minister of Solidarity and the fight against poverty, Myss Belmonde Dogo, herself a participant in the program and enrolled in the Gender and Climate Change course.
“I am delighted to have done this training, I am delighted with the 9 months spent learning, learning what it is like,” she said. She leaned on a clarification of the popular idea about gender. "For ordinary mortals, in everyone's understanding, when we talk about gender, we immediately think of women, but gender is both women and men," she said. The choice of his training is based on his favorite field because being Minister of Solidarity and the Fight against Poverty "It is true that for some countries, global warming refers to drought, but in Côte d' Ivory it refers to the rising waters. We have women in the interior of the country who have lost small tomato fields, rice plantations, yam fields and no longer know when to plow the field to sow, when to wait and climate change has had a detrimental effect,” she explained. This training will equip him in his mission by helping him find the appropriate solutions to fight against poverty. “We must ensure that the certificates that we are going to hold in our hands can transform the lives of our populations,” assured Myss Belmonde Dogo. The representative of the sponsor Hien Yacouba Sié, Balé Titi expressed her thanks for the choice made on her person to sponsor this promotion.
For the development
For Euphrasie Kouassi Yao, training on gender is a means of including everyone in the development of the country. "The world needs experts to reinvent the paths to peace, inclusive, integral and global development for everyone" because they now have the basics for. "You have learned to make gender a tool for analysis, diagnosis, orientation to build another world," she said, addressing the beneficiary listeners.
For the now experts, this program is a godsend and will allow them to advance in their careers now based on gender. Myss Belmonde Dogo sees this training as a way of involving men and women in all projects. “Beyond my ministry, in everyday life, being a gender expert for me was important, important to know that any problem must be solved with both men and women. We generally tend in our projects to take into account either the male component or the female component and being a gender expert allows us to have the two entities face to face, men and women, in order to be able to improve living conditions”. According to the director of RTI 2, Kadiata Fadiga, change is only possible in Africa if we associate men and women with the same cause. “Gender is a concept that aspires to a fairer, more egalitarian world and aspires to development. But for that, both sexes have to work together.” For Ali Sacko, commercial executive at Orange Mali, this training in addition to having an effect on his career will have an effect on himself.
