35 students from the first class of the International Masters in Gender, Economics and Sustainable Water Management, launched by the Unesco Chair in "Water, Women and Decision-Making Power", made their solemn return to school on October 25, at the library of the Faculty of economics and management at the Félix Houphouët-Boigny University in Cocody.
This master's degree, launched in collaboration with the Ufr des Sciences Economiques et Gestion, aims, according to Euphrasie Kouassi Yao, Holder of the Chair and Special Gender Advisor to the President of the Republic, to provide students with the scientific tools necessary for research and solving various sustainable development issues.
“We want to stimulate a new dynamic for the effective consideration of this approach in all development interventions. It will also contribute to providing Côte d'Ivoire, Africa and the world with competent frameworks for the cross-cutting consideration of gender in any development intervention," said the initiator.
It is for this reason that she congratulated all the auditors who were selected for this first promotion and invited them to put their all in order to succeed and serve the country.
"With this Master's program, the Unesco Chair is now ready to reach cruising speed in order to have a lasting impact on policies and practices so that they consolidate the march of Côte d'Ivoire, Africa and even the world on the road to sustainable and equitable development," said Euphrasie Kouassi Yao.
For his part, Prof N'Golo Soro, Secretary General of the National Commission for Unesco, encouraged listeners for the choice made on one of Unesco's priorities, which is Gender, welcoming the launch of a such Master after several attempts.
Note that several Ivorian brains, including Prof. Ballo Zié, Associate Professor of Economics, participated in the establishment of this Master.
